The Oklahoma Writers Federation Inc (OWFI) organization will offer a limited number of scholarships to aspiring writers who couldn't otherwise afford to attend the 2008 Writers Conference.
Awarded scholarships will include full registration fee. In return for the full registration fee, scholarship recipients will help out as needed on site during the conference and will be asked to submit a piece for the OWFI Report magazine. The scholarships are made possible by a 10% percent donation from all Sponsorship funds of the OWFI Writers Conference since 2006, auction of Famous Author Books, and by an anonymous friend of the organization since 2001.
Send your name and address, the financial circumstances that prevent you from attending at your own expense, your writing aspirations and your writing experience. Please limit this to one page, but in addition to that page, we highly recommend that you attach a short (limit 500 words) sample of your writing.
An OWFI scholarship covers only your conference fee, which includes the Friday night and Saturday night banquets. The scholarship does NOT include any transportation or lodging costs. If you live out of town, it would be wise to include in your letter general details on how to you plan to deal with those costs. The postmark deadline for this application is March 1, 2008.
