To help improve OWFI’s approval rating for grants, we will donate books to the Salvation Army Shelter in Oklahoma City, which is a way to help literacy in our community as well as meeting an educational need in the community.
We ask anyone who will help to bring new or gently read books to the OWFI conference in May. We need books for children and adults.
Please don’t take away from BasketWars because this project is different from giving items for the Silent Auction. Foundations want to give grants to organizations that provide education and help increase literacy in society.
There will be donation boxes at Registration where you can place your donated books!
I not only challenge individuals and affiliates to donate books for this organization-wide project to be collected at our conference May 2-4, but for individuals and affiliates also to donate books to a local facility. For example, I will donate 10 children’s books, 5 young adult, and 5 adult books at the conference, but I also donate at least 25 books twice a year to a local care facility for the elderly.
May 2-4, a large box or more than one box will be by the conference registration table for donors to place their books. Please help us help others as well as our organization.
