This May, OWFI invites writers of all genres and experience levels to join us in Oklahoma City for the 2027 annual writing conference, Stitching Sentences.
At the center of this year’s lineup is keynote speaker Doug Murano, award-winning editor and founder of Bad Hand Books. Known for bringing together some of the biggest voices in horror, crime, and dark fantasy, Doug has built a career around great stories—and the writers who tell them. His work as an editor has earned both Bram Stoker and Shirley Jackson Awards, while Bad Hand Books has become home to work from authors including Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk, Josh Malerman, Christopher Golden, and many more.
Join Doug and a full lineup of writers and industry professionals for a weekend devoted to the craft, business, and community of writing—one sentence, one story, and one connection at a time.
Keep an eye on our conference pages for more information on the schedule, faculty, registration, and how to make the most of your conference experience. See you there!
Our discounted room block won’t open for awhile, but you should definitely plan to stay onsite to best maximize your conference experience! Looking for a roommate? Check out our Room Share thread in the OWFI Facebook group.
For the most immersive conference experience, consider booking your stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Oklahoma City Will Rogers Airport. Rooming at the venue allows more time for networking and enjoying any impromptu post-session activities. Our host inevitably sells out each year, so authors who wait to reserve a room are often left hunting for alternate accommodations nearby.
Reservations coming in 2027!
